The team of Miami Hurricanes football represents the University of Miami in American soccer. The team has competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA Division. They have also made it to the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The program began in the year 1926 and had won five AP national championships in 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, and 2001. They were among the most storied and decorated football programs in NCAA history. The Miami soccer team was ranked 4th on the list of All-time Associated Press National Poll Championships, matched with Ohio State and Southern California and behind Alabama, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma.
The Hurricanes also keep several National Football League Draft records. They have won the Heisman Trophy. There are also nine players who have been enlisted to the College Football Hall Of Fame.
The team had two of the longest series of wins in NCAA Division I history. Tied for sixth all-time, the team dominated in 34 continuous games from 2000 to 2003. The winning streak began in 2000 at West Virginia and finished in 2003 at two-fold overtime loss to Ohio State in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.
Good for thirteenth on the all-time record, they also dominated in 29 straight matches from October 1990 to January 1993. That lengthy streak was changed when the highest-level team was resentful about second-positioned Alabama in the 1993 Sugar Bowl.
The team possesses the record for the longest home series of wins in NCAA history, dominating 58 straight games at the Orange Bowl. The record streak started with a 38–0 shutout triumph over Cincinnati in October 1985 and finished with a 38–20 misfortune to Washington in September 1994.
